Ron Fricke, director & cinematographer; Music by Michael Stearnes;
Simitar Entertainment Inc.; Full Screen; Stereo; 40 Minutes
Ron Fricke has taken his time-lapse film camera to a variety of locations around the world,ranging from city centres in America and Europe to deserts, landmarks, and sculptures. We see familiar and unusual objects, architecture, and landscapes as the sun rises and falls, and clouds flash across the sky around them, with a musical score that underlines the greatness and futility of man’s struggle to form nature when, in fact, nature forms him. This film is rather like The Blue Planet without all the moralizing, and I enjoyed its evocative images and beautifully matched music.
I would have liked slightly better image resolution, though the colour was excellent and the sound quality very good stereo with some ambient surround.
